Close to 100 lawmakers from both houses have put deputy president’s office on the spot.
This follows his recent public utterances that the state was targeting him.
The second in command mentioned to the charged crowd at Kenei’s funeral how the fake firearm scandal probe was being used to target his office and scandalize him.
“We want to know who killed Kenei when, why and how,” Mr Ruto said. “It is unfortunate that this young man had to pay the ultimate price in the entire scheme meant to undermine my office, but I want to assure you that those who killed him will never know peace. And they will be known,” the DP said. However, in a meeting held at Serena Hotel on Wednesday March 11th and moderated by Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, leaders fetched from across all political divides heaped blame on the office of the DP citing insubordination and demeaning remarks through unnecessary public tensions and drama.
They termed Ruto’s latest behavior as disrespectful and wanting as he seems to have declared war with the state agencies he is supposed to chair as the second in command.
“He is second in the National Security Council. The DP should be the last person to complain and open war against such institutions and state agencies in funeral and public gatherings,” Gladwell Jasire Cheruiyot, Woman Rep Baringo read their statement in part.
They claimed that Ruto’s blame game to the ‘deep state’ was a direct jab at his boss Uhuru Kenyatta and advised him to fish out if he was not ready to work in harmony with Mr. Kenyatta.
Legislator claimed that it was lost to Ruto that he is only the second in command and not a co-president in Jubilee government.
They went further linking him to fraudulent activities, deals and un ending corruption cases that he is yet to clear himself from.
“The deputy president DP is definitely guilty of public misconduct and grave malpractices and has not lived up to the oath of office that he subscribed before assuming office.
“He has not brought honour to the nation and dignity to the office of the deputy president and has failed to promote public confidence in the integrity of the high office. He would rather rule Kenya than serve the people,” partly read their statement.
The MPs and senators therefore asked him to either shape up or ship out as soon as possible before they can start the ugly root of processing his of impeachment.
Also present was Siaya Senator James Orengo who has been on record not once threatening to institute impeachment proceedings against Ruto.
